Polesworth 2050 Project

The Polesworth 2050 group was set up at the end of 2008 to bring together representatives from community organisations within Polesworth. The group's objective is to improve the community, leisure and sports facilities in the historic centre of Polesworth through a single, planned and informed approach. Various sections of the community already have needs, or aspirations for facilities and these are being pulled together in a single exercise to support a strategic view for the village and to prioritise what needs to be done to make the centre of Polesworth a vibrant area to serve all the community by 2050. The group believes that a single approach can have long-term benefits over a piecemeal approach. This exercise is being undertaken to produce a plan of what the village wants based on what the local people have to say, so that local views are what dictate the delivery of services and facilities for the area.

The Polesworth 2050 Group Mission

To bring about the high quality facilities needed for community, leisure and recreational sporting use in the historic centre of Polesworth. We will do this by researching local people's needs, consulting local groups/individuals and producing a plan of what facilities we would like to see in Polesworth centre in, or before, 2050. This plan and this group will assist local groups in achieving their objectives.

Polesworth 2050 Project Plan

The project team is now formed and has secured funding from Awards for All to do the research into requirements and pull all of these together into one plan to determine the way forward for Polesworth.

Our outline timetable is to prepare our final report and recommendations in October, following several months of public consultation.

Public Consultation

Two public meetings have been held to brief community groups and individuals on the project. The project team has now scheduled public open days and consultation to involve the local community in stating their requirements. Questionnaires will be distributed via community groups and the Library for local people to register their views, and Public open days will give people a chance to make their views heard (a questionnaire is now available). Please make a note of these dates and come along so we can hear your views — you will be very welcome!

Open Days Timetable

  1. Saturday 25th July, 10‒12.30, Polesworth Library — give us your views
  2. Saturday 15th August, 10‒12.30, Polesworth Library — give us your views
  3. Saturday 19th September, 10‒12.30, Polesworth Library — feedback

The Polesworth 2050 Group will aim to complete the consultation and feedback exercise by October 2009.
